Short Curriculum Vitae (English)

My name is Apostolos Fotios and I was born in Karditsa (Greece), where I completed my studies in secondary education.

I studied Theology at the School of Theology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, from which I graduated in 1999. I completed my postgraduate studies in Thessaloniki (2010, Theological School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with the thesis, "The Liturgical differences between the Orthodox and the Roman Catholic Church") and in a PhD level in Rome (2015, Pontificio Istituto Orientale, Rome, titled PhD thesis "The acolouthy of the footwashing in the Greek Orthodox tradition") in the history and theology of the Orthodox Divine Worship.

I have done a post-doctoral research (2018) at the School of Theology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece) on :  "The Consequences of the fall of 1204 in the Liturgical Life and practice of Constantinople", which explores the consequences of the 4th Crusade on the liturgical life and practice of the Orthodox Church generally .

I have published many articles from time to time in the local press and magazines, I also have publications in scientific journals and I have participated in a series of radio broadcasts on the radio of the Church of Greece on issues related to Orthodox Divine Worship, Liturgy and Tradition.

I am a collaborator of the Holy Metropolis of Thessaly and Phanariofersala (Greek Church), where I have organized a series of seminars and lectures on Liturgy, both for believers and for the priests of the Holy Metropolis. From 2018 I am a member of the Wedding and Baptism Committee of the aforementioned Holy Metropolis, which deals with the budding and Liturgical preparation of the ceremony of the marriage and after it.

I can speak English and Italian fluently and I have a good knowledge of German and French. Also, I have attended certified Paleography seminars at the Institute of Byzantine Research in Thessaloniki.
