Profile

Eirini Kasapi is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Theology (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens), where she teaches courses in History of Slavic Churches. Her research interests include History of the Russian Orthodox Church, Slavic Hagiology, Early and Medieval Slavic Church History, Heretics and Persecution in the Slavic Churches, Religious Minorities in the Slavic World. She has published various articles and two books: The Stance of the Russian Church towards Heretics (14th-15th cc.) (in greek), Athens 2020 and The Canonization of Saints in the Russian Church during the last decade of the 20th century (in greek), Ed. Ouranos, Athens 2009. Currently she is working on a book manuscript entitled “The Old Believers. Tradition and Identity”, which focuses on the evolution of the schism of the Old Believers in the Russian Church and its intertemporal implications.
