CURRICULUM VITAE OF ASSOCIOATED PROFESSOR CHRISTOS G. KARAGIANNIS
Associated Professor Christos G. Karagiannis, was born in Athens in 1969. He graduated from the Faculty of Theology, of the School of Theology, of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) in 1992.
In 1995 he received with distinction the title of Master of Theology (MTh) from the University of Aberdeen. For his performance he was awarded a scholarship by the Gilroy Royal Scholarship Foundation of Great Britain (1996).
Between the years 1997-1999 he he studied at the University of Tübingen, doning research related to the preparation of his doctoral thesis.
From 1999 to 2007 he worked in the Publications Comittee of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece as editor of the scientific magazines "Ekklesia" and "Theology".
In 2004 he was declared Doctor of the Theology at the Faculty of Theology, of the School of Theology, of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
In 2006 he was elected a Lecturer of the above Faculty, with the subject "History and Archeology of the Old Testament".
Since September 2007 he has been teaching at the Faculty of Theology of the School of Theology, of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
In December 2012 he was elected Assistant Professor and in January 2019 Assoc. Professor of the Faculty of Theology, of the School of Theology, of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, specializing in "Old Testament".
He has participated in archaeological expeditions to Caesarea Philippi (Banias) (1995-2000) and to Ancient Magdala (2013) in the land of Israel.
Since 2010 he has been the Scientific Manager ofthe Program "Practical Exercise for Students of the Theology Department" and since 2018 for the teaching project (Short Courses) with religious and cultural thematic content.
In April 2018, following a relevant secret vote of the representatives of the Departments of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, he was elected a member of the Seven-Member Research Committee of the Special Research Funds Account (ELKE) of the NKUA, where he serves until today.
By decision of the Senate of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (12-11-2019) he has been appointed as member of the Coordination Committee of the Center of Excellence for Digital Heritage.
Since 13-2-2022 he has been appointed as member of the Board of Directors of the Asset Development Company of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
On July 24 2020 he was elected Dean of the Theological School and assumed his duties on September 1, 2020. He is still the Dean of the School of Theology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
On November 1, 2020, he was appointed Academic Head of the MTh «Orthodox Christian Theology and Religious Plularism» at the Hellenic Open University.
He has written monographs and scientific articles and he has participated in conferences in Greece and abroad.
